Save the Burwell School

In Spring 2005, the Historic Hillsborough Commission launched an ambitious $125,000 capital campaign.

Currently, moisture damage, rot, paint failure, an incomplete gutter system, and the combined effects of almost 30 years of deferred maintenance, seriously threaten the structural integrity, historic craftsmanship and general appearance of the Residence’s exterior.

The “Save the Burwell School Capital Campaign” will generate funds for both immediate, urgent preservation work on the Burwell Residence and the creation of the Katharine Malone-France Endowment for future maintenance and preservation needs. With its “Save the Burwell School Capital Campaign,” the Historic Hillsborough Commission seeks to ensure the preservation of the irreplaceable Burwell School Residence so that it can continue to be a vibrant community resource for years to come.
