Born c. 1833, Mary L. Bunting was one of two Bunting girls to attend the Burwell School. She was from Sampson County, NC, North Carolina [1].

Story

Mary Bunting married her cousin John H. Hill and together they had six children. Mary Bunting is notably the granddaughter of a North Carolina governor Gabriel Holmes on her mother's side and the great-granddaughter of a revolutionary hero and original member of Congress Richard Clinton on her father's side [2].
