Can you help us develop our collection and further our People of the Burwell School Digital Archive Project?

Do you have photos, letters, family records, or items that once belonged to a Burwell School student or a member of the Robert Burwell family? We would love to know about these materials and would welcome reproductions of them - or would you care to entrust them to us as donations to our growing collection? We are interested in donations of items that once belonged to Burwell School girls or that may be representative of the time period when the Burwell School was in operation, from 1837 to 1857. All materials and items would be kept according to archival standards and principles and may be displayed in special exhibits at the Burwell School Historic Site in Hillsborough, NC, with full acknowledgments to the donors.

The Historic Hillsborough Commission, which operates the site, and the Burwell School's dedicated researchers invite you to assist us as we expand our museum's collection and our online research site on the girls who attended the Burwell School and the remarkable Burwell family who significantly contributed to the education of women in the South.
