Cultural Arts Celebrations and Events

The Burwell School also provides a venue for community gatherings. Local artists, painters, authors and musical groups find exposure at the Burwell School through Last Fridays gatherings, lectures, art exhibits, concerts and literary events.

Hillsborough Literary Association

The Hillsborough Literary Association highlight the area's literary community through readings, book signings, dramatic interpretations of literary works, and the Children's Holiday Storytime.

Last Fridays

From May through August, the Burwell School collaborates with the Hillsborough Arts Council's Last Fridays celebrations. The Last Fridays events scheduled for 2008 are:

19th Century Arts and Crafts. (May 30) learn about cosmetics, knitting, and parlor games from 150 years ago
Community Ice Cream Social (June 27) free ice cream with local celebrity scoopers.
Energy Independence Fair (July 25) featuring solar panels, hybrid cars and a soap box derby.
Neighborhood Night (August 29) featuring a porch performance of Gospel Music.

Open Studio Tour

The Burwell School is a venue for local artists for exhibit their work. In addition to exhibits by individual artists, the Burwell School serves as the northern location for the annual Orange County Artists' Guild Open Studio Tour.
