Hours of Operation
The Burwell School is open to the public year-round except between the end of December through January; Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Location
The Burwell School Historic Site is located at 319 N. Churton St., Hillsborough, NC on two landscaped acres in the downtown Hillsborough Historic District.
Parking
There is a small parking lot directly behind the school building. For larger events, it is easy to park along either edge of West Union Street.
Directions to the Burwell School Historic Site:
To get to Hillsborough:
From Durham, take I-85 South
From Chapel Hill, Cary or Raleigh, take I-40 West
From Charlotte or Greensboro, take I-85 North
From I-40:
Get off at exit 261
Turn North on Old 86 (take a right off the Westbound exit or a left off the Eastbound exit)
Drive straight for about 1 mile until you pass under I-85
Continue straight for about 1.5 miles until you enter Downtown Historic Hillsborough
You will drive straight into downtown on Churton Street
You will pass through three traffic lights at the intersections of Margaret, King and Tryon Streets
The next intersection after Tryon will be Queen Street, continue straight
Finally you will arrive at Union Street, take a left onto Union street.
The Burwell School is your first left on Union Street at the top of the Hill.
From I-85:
Get off at exit 164
Turn North on Old 86/South Churton Street (take a right off the Westbound exit or a left off the Eastbound exit)
Continue straight for about 1.5 miles until you enter Downtown Historic Hillsborough
You will drive straight into downtown on Churton Street

From Route 70 (North of Hillsborough):
Turn onto 86 South (locally known as N. Churton Street)
Drive straight about 0.3 miles, passing through the traffic light at Corbin Street, and the intersection of Orange Street
Finally you will arrive at Union Street, take a right onto Union street.
The Burwell School is your first left on Union Street at the top of the Hill.
